Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Reprise - Prologue
Two years ago. It has been two years since the angels were defeated, after that the NERV Geofront was shut down, sealing their technological and ethical Pandora's box, in the vain hope that no-one would ever need to open it again. The MAGI ruthless in their jobs were shut down, they had completed their last calculations, or so they thought.
The original NERV personnel were transferred to the military and other needy organizations, but swore oaths to protect the NERV secret before starting their shattered lives again. The children, the chosen ones started their lives where they had left off, they wouldn't be able to shake the horror, fear and pain from their minds, The angels, the nightmarish and surreal conflict still haunted them every night. The legacy of NERV and the angels were forgotten, and eventually laid to rest as people forgot about the past conflict and the chosen were left as fallen heroes, unremembered.
Shinji carried on with his life where he had left off, he stayed in Tokyo 3 with Misato the events however had drastically affected Shinji's already fragile mind, he finds himself questioning his ethics and himself as a person. He has become more steadfast, but at a price, Shinji questions his own thoughts and feelings so much, his is unable to understand the feelings of the emotions of others this is fueled by the bitter hatred and disgust at his father and the actions he took.
Asuka has been slowly recovering, collecting the pieces of her shattered mind, the first steps were taken after the conflict, she came to terms with the death of her parents after visiting their graves, her emotional instability has been slowly recovering but this degree of emotional healing takes time. Although help from the people around her and regular happy interactions have helped she still has a long way to go, the ghost of her mother still haunts her at night however in spite of this, she is slowly learning to enjoy life again.
Touji left NERV after his incident to look after his sister, he has ever since forgiven Shinji after realizing what actually happened, he is still firm friends with Shinji but he has an element of distrust toward unknown people
Rei has had the hardest time. Forced to deal with her origins Rei has become a recluse, driven to hiding in her apartment trying to make a reason or come to terms with her existence, and what she really is and why she was made,. All the human emotions she used to feel have become blank with no apparent meaning it has almost got to the point where she is incapable of feeling any emotion another persons or her own. She is unable to feel anything, because of this she has tried to limit her contact with humans, shunning society out of her life for her preferred own world, a world that is reflected in her apartment,
They would all be re-united again, fate as always had stepped in, the countdown had begun, it was just a matter of time. The Evangelions left derelict in the geofront would heed their call again, they had been given two years to prepare.
They would be ready.
